Hourly rates
There is no official average for East Sussex. A local East Sussex guide puts independent cleaners at about £15 to £18 an hour and cleaning companies at about £18 to £30. National guides give a UK average of around £18 to £19 an hour, with London and parts of the South East higher.
What a visit costs
If your clean takes two to three hours, £15 to £18 an hour works out at roughly £30 to £55 a visit with an independent cleaner, and more through an agency. Ask how long they expect the clean to take before you agree a price.
Independent cleaner or agency?
Agencies usually cost a few pounds an hour more. They handle cover when your cleaner is off, and some insure the cleaner for you. An independent cleaner is often cheaper and you deal with the same person each time, so check whether they have their own insurance.
On Taskmarket, pros who have sent us an insurance certificate show an "Insured" badge, and you can post a job that only insured pros can quote on. A repeat clean can be set up every one, two or four weeks with the same pro.
