Typical prices
Most 2026 UK price guides put a man and van at about £50 to £80 an hour outside London for two people and a van. One person and a smaller van can be cheaper, from around £30 to £60 an hour for a simple local job.
A local move of a flat or small house is often quoted at roughly £300 to £700 in total.
Minimum hours and extras
Many services have a minimum booking of two or three hours. Stairs with no lift, long walks from where the van can park, and travel time to the start can all add to the price.
Getting an accurate quote
List the big items, the number of boxes, and the floors at each end. Photos help a lot. A fixed price for the whole move is easier to compare than an hourly rate that depends on how the day goes.
On Taskmarket, post your move once with the details and photos, and local pros send their price. You pay through Taskmarket and the pro is only paid once you mark the job complete.
